So, this past weekend, I took my best bud and siblings out to see "Pacific Rim".
Early birthday present for him, and probably the only chance my brother was going to see it before it got yanked from theaters due to just not being that big a hit.. I wasn't as eager to see it as say, LOTR, or as eager as I am to see "The Conjuring", but hey, it's Guillermo del Toro!

Here is the official synopsis
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Quick back story... I've LOVED Guillermo del Toro work since I saw "Hellboy". I knew the instant I saw the previews for "Hellboy" back in 2004 I would love it. KNEW IT. It's just the perfect little movie for me. Since then, I've been checking out del Toro's work whenever I the chance. "Devil's Backbone" was a weird little ghost story, "Pan's Labyrinth" had me sobbing my eyes out by the end. "Mimic" was............... not great. Not bad, just not great. "Hellboy: The Golden Army" was good (not as good as the first one, but I still have a soft spot for old Red and gang). Anyway.
