Goin' whole hog................

Happy Thanksgiving.  The poor holiday everyone can't wait to get past so they can forget about the uncomfortable fact we basically screwed the Indians over and get on the the Christmas orgy. I never got Thanksgiving, nor Black Friday.  Right now, I still feel like I'm waiting for Halloween to come. How can it be Thanksgiving?  How can it almost be Christmas?  Meh.

And the chill will seep to your bones.

DSCN9535

It's winter out there.  The high was 30 F (-1 C all day, it was thick cold fog, and I could hear geese flying high over the colds to warmer grounds.  We may have a low of 18 F (about -7 C)  I'm worried it will be a cold long winter.  We're way behind on firewood, and most everything do with getting ready for winter.   I think the greens will bite it this time, I can't see how the kale and mustard will not freeze, especially if we keep drizzling/foggy all night.

EDIT:
Started this two day ago, it just gotten colder.

That was the temp I woke up too.
There was ice on the inside of the windows behind the curtains

Walking up to the garden , and all the leaves on the greens shattered like  glass.

There have been hugeVs of geese flying over all day, flying fast.

So, yes, winter is settling in.

short recap (insert clever title here)

Meh, getting this up later then I wanted. Ok well.  Here are The Halloween costumes as promised.
IMGP3880

You have, from the far right Inky as a Rosebud Splicer  form the game BioShock, Bro as Jack form Bioshock, Mum as Martyn Jacques, the lead singer form The Tiger Lillies, Dad as a baby dwarf (his idea) and me as Alice Liddell form Alice: Madness Returns . The only two costumes I sewed were the splicer and Alice. The splicer was a last minuet idea on my sister part, and I'm really happy with how it came out, all things considers.  Ink found an out of print pattern, Butterick 5037 for me to modify, and I went form there. It's not 100% right, but it's close enough.
IMGP3966

Alice I had been working on for almost a year. I didn't get some things I want done, like the boots.  And I mess up the embroidery a little. To be fair, I was working on that when Rocky died, so I may have been a little distracted. The horse  head was made by Inky . Awesome, isn't it?
IMGP3907

Speaking of rabbits.  I have 13 new rabbits to take care of.  We went out at the beginning of the month to picked them up. It was a long trip through Tulsa, which it a bout 3 hours away.

It was a pretty drive, thankfully, but still. We didn't stop for food, so by the end of it we were HUNGRY.  Caved and bought a can of gross Pringles on he way home >>.

I really have to thank my best bud Jason for help me though this. It been a rough few months.

And tonight at midnight, the dead rise and walk the earth.

DSCN9201
Halloween is tomorrow. I'm finding that hard to believe, though I don't know why. It finally looks like Fall out there (though  a touch warm), wish leaves changing color and overcast skies. There is a call for rain tomorrow. I like rain, cloudy Halloweens. Sunny ones just don't seem right.

The meager decoration I have are up.

And, since tomorrow is mum and dads wedding anniversary, I got them a bottle of wine while I was out
DSCN9190

I know NOTHING about wine, but the art on the front just seemed so appropriate! Owls! Spooky Tree!  That how one picks wine, right? Cool art?
Right.... Well, I'll hear back tomorrow how the wine was, they stole the bottle away and I doubt it will make it through the night.
I have my costume mostly finish. As finished as it can be. Pic will come, I promise.
Meh. I wish Halloween was further away. After the is Christmas. I don't want to deal with Christmas.

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.

Internet credits the blog title to Robert Frost, I have no idea if that is true. Fits my frame of mind right now, so there.

I need some mental sunshine right now.   Ever since my last "life" post back in the beginning of September  It seem like life has been a series of small kicks in the gut.  Follow cut to read on about tales of little tragedies and insignificant woes.

All you people are so scared of me. Most days I'd take that as a compliment. But it ain't me you gotta worry about now.

Went to see Riddick with my sister and friends this weekend.  I'm pretty new to the whole Riddick/Vin Diesel thing (my only Diesel movie to date was The Iron Giant,a movie that made both ME and my brother bawl our eyes out. ) .

Only the day befor Inky and I watched Pitch Black for the first time, so that we wouldn't be totale in the dark (hahahahaha..........eh) about the  franchises. I have not seen Chronicles of Riddick yet, but my best bud swears it unimportant  for the series (I plan on seeing it, but I'm finding you either love it or hate is as a "riddick" movie)  Anyway, I liked Pitch Black, it was fun, maybe a little dated with the filtered lenses, but otherwise stuck to its story, didn't have a lot of excessive baggage, and had a  few nice twists to its story.  I didn't really know what to expect with Riddick, other than the previews looked promising.
As I summed it up on Twitter.... Mad Max in space. With less hair.  And not cars. But it's channelling Mad Max all the way.

It's not "Door to Heaven"... it's...

Sooooooooooooo... With the recent new that Roland Emmerich is planning to reboot Stargate, I've been sent on another nostalgic musings.  I didn't get to see Stargate when it came out, my mom  recorded on a trip back visiting her folks (that was probably 1996).  I gobbled it up, and got my second childhood geek crush on Dr. Daniel Jackson   ( I already had a crush on Indiana Jones.. Yeah, you can see a trend here).  I was a fan. I got a huge poster off eBay, and original movie pins (That as much as my meager allowance would allow), browsed web sites, had a Stargate desktop theme...   When news came out there would be a TV show, I was excited.... Till I saw it. I. HATED. IT  (didn't help that I thought a lot of the early alien costumes look cheap. Yeah, I'm a snob). I still dislike it but don't hate it. Subsequently I've ignored the other shows mostly (ok I've seen some of  Stargate: Atlantis... It was amusing. And the first episode of the last one, SGU Stargate Universe. Didn't really do anything for me.)  my fever for the movie has faded a little, but I still love it.  I was always disappointed that Emmerich didn't get to do a trilogy, though as I saw more and more of his movies I  thought "maybe it for the best".  Godzilla was a mess (and please  DO NOT mention that movie in the presence of my brother. That kid has been watch the old  ToHo Godzilla movie since he figured out how to run a remote) I never got into Independence Day...  I just never click with another of his movie (ok, I will briefly bring it up... I've often wonder if it is because Stargate WASN'T his movie, but an idea he lifted... Some info here, everything else I've found online is pure speculation).
Now... he wants to remake it?  Ok, it's his movie and all, but I can't help but feel it the $$$ involved more than anything. Stargate the movie from 1994 is a timepiece of the 90s. It's simple, unburdened by a bunch of the mush and pomp that is clogging up so many Si Fi movie today,  The special effects have held up surprisingly well, the story is nice and coherent ( cough, Prometheus, cough), the acting isn't bad. Why fuck with a good thing?  Meh.  It doesn't' help that it seem every popular movie is getting a sequel, or getting rebooted  (Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator,  Avatar,  Pirates of the OMGwhydon'tthyeletitdie )  What are your thoughts, spooky?  Could this be a good thing? He obviously can't  cast the same actors, they've all aged way to much.
